and changes into

I've been trying to get this Moleskine finished before beginning the next one. I know if I don't do it that way I'll never finish it. There are a couple of pages in it that I just couldn't live with. So, I decided to cover them up with a little collage. Collage and drawing, of course. This idea evolved from a drawing that I did in Suzanne's Moleskine for the MoleyX12 group. You can see more about that HERE. And, yes they are REAL stamps. I ain't that good.

utterly incredible drawing. Good to look at this one close up. Defies belief!!

Those squashed bugs...it reminds me of a few years ago, wasn't bill oddie or someone telling kids to count all the dead bugs on their parents car number plates so they can tell how many bugs there are in the uk, or something?

Detail.
Gorgeousnous.
Patience.
Fanstasticnous.
Finesse.
Confidence-nous.

The dabs of ink, the blotching, the composition, the anecdotes, the 'oh, that's why she was collecting those dead bugs', the minutiae, the whole.

I think you can stop now. It surely can't get better.

But please don't stop.

Incredible detail and such sensitive control. The colours are so delicately matched and balanced too. Beautiful drawing - you have a special talent for these heaped, drawn collages, and the elements of actual collage just add an extra touch.

Wow Andrea! This is too amazing. I love how the whole composition comes together with the combination of the envelopes, the Moleskine paper, the stamps, and all the drawing. You've made it look like such a natural arrangement-I'm in awe.

You remind me I need to write letters more. But with the internet age, and sometimes (OK often) receiving my neighbor's mail I have a fear of the letters not getting to the right people. I guess I could scan the letters and if they don't get the letter in a month I could email the scanned version...

Wow, Andrea, this is so intense, it's overwhelming. (Mr. Kafka would be delighted)

That's it. You're the queen of color. How you managed to give the color to these envelopes blows me away. For a split second, i thought it was indeed the Japanese Moleskine but no!
I can't believe you managed to render the craft paper with its lines. Darn it, Andrea. You are incredible.

I love how you've worked the stamps into your design - did you buy the stamps specially for this project or did you have them lying around waiting for a suitable project?

The envelopes and insects are so amazingly realistic - how do you always manage to make dead bugs look so beautiful?!

I really have to get myself involved in one of these exchanges - they look like so much fun.

I don't know what this says about me, but can I tell you that I'm a bit relieved you didn't draw the stamps? It was a bit much for my heart to take. But I honestly thought that you had. You've done it again.

Ok, how can a great thing get any better? I checked out your drawing in Suzanne's moly and that blew me totally away (and yes, I was one of the people that thought you drew the stamps, which in my book, is not unrealistic ... I mean, you ARE that awesome! Then, I see this one and you blew me away yet again!! I mean, dang, Suzanne's moly must have taken you forever ... and then you do another one!!!! I am loving your art ... and I am also loving your tenacity. What a role model you are! I'm going to draw now! :)

WOW.

Wow, thanks. You know, I had no intention of posting this. I just haven't made any new work for the past couple of weeks. I felt it was a 'filler' in my Moleskine - which I just really want to fill. There are elements of it that I like, but was really unsure of the whole.

I am continually surprised at the pieces of work that people really respond to. I love that. Thank you all. I'm very humbled.

Cheers.

I thought I had already commented on this one, but it doesn't seem I have. It is superwonderful! The sepia and blue together are just achingly gorgeous.
